The theme of this year’s Menntakvika is
Creative Approaches in School and Leisure Work: Shaping a New Future
The aim of the Menntakvika conference is to highlight and share the most current developments in the field of education and related disciplines. This year, we are also celebrating the move into Saga, and we invite guests to explore the facilities and the opportunities they offer. On Saturday, October 4th, creative workshops and booths will take place in the impressive new facilities of the School of Education, providing a valuable opportunity for collaboration between academia and the professional field.
The School of Education invites all those conducting research in education and related fields to participate in the conference, as well as employers from other institutions who research or work with relevant topics.
As in previous years, we welcome abstracts for individual papers, pre-organized symposia, and posters. This year, we introduce something new: Creative workshops and booths, which will be held on Saturday, October 4th.
It will be possible to follow the sessions on Zoom (apart from the creative workshops and booths), but they will not be recorded.
The conference is open to everyone and free of charge.
We hereby call for abstracts for diverse contributions to Menntakvika.
– Please read the guidelines below carefully before proceeding further –
- The maximum length for abstracts is 250 words.
- Abstracts should not include references.
- Each participant may be the first author of only one presentation, but can be a co-author on up to two others. Therefore, each participant may only give one presentation at the conference. This applies to individual papers, pre-organized symposia, and posters, but not to creative booths and presentations.
- Undergraduate students (B.Ed., BS, BA) are not permitted to present at the conference.
- All abstracts must be proofread before submission.
- Abstracts must be submitted through the official Menntakvika submission form. No other methods of submission will be accepted.
- Supervisors do not always need to be listed as co-authors of presentations/posters based on master’s theses, but they should always be acknowledged as supervisors.
Researchers, professionals, and experts in the field of education are invited to submit presentations. Each submission will be grouped with similar topics into thematic sessions held on Thursday, October 2nd and Friday, October 3rd.
All submitted abstracts for individual presentations must include:
- A brief description of the purpose and objectives of the research
- A brief description of the methods used
- The main findings and conclusions, along with lessons learned from the project
References should not be included in abstracts.
Pre-Organized Symposium:
A pre-organized symposium with 3–5 presentations, where a group of scholars or field experts come together to focus on a specific topic or area of research. These sessions will take place on Friday, October 3rd.
All submitted abstracts for organized sessions must include:
- A brief description of the purpose and objectives of the research
- A brief description of the methods used
- The main findings and conclusions, along with lessons learned from the project
References should not be included in abstracts.
Posters:
We encourage everyone — and especially doctoral students — to present their research in the form of posters.
All submitted abstracts for poster presentations must include:
- A brief description of the purpose and objectives of the research
- A brief description of the methods used
- The main findings and conclusions, along with lessons learned from the project
References should not be included in abstracts.
Presentations of development projects where conference guests will have the opportunity to engage, explore innovations, and gain insight into diverse initiatives led by the School of Education and the broader professional field. Are you working on an exciting project connected to practice? Do you have innovative methods or tools that professionals could benefit from trying out or learning about?
Creative booths and presentations will take place on Saturday, October 4th.
You may choose to apply for either or both formats:
- Booth: An open station where you present your project, idea, or materials and engage in open dialogue with attendees (2–3 hours).
- Workshop: A session where you invite participants to explore and try out tools, methods, ideas, or technologies that are useful in educational or research contexts (30–45 minutes).
Creative Booths and Presentations
All submitted abstracts for booths/workshops must include:
- Contact information for the responsible person
- Title of the booth/workshop
- Description of the booth/workshop

In the next step, you will log in to Oxford Abstracts and submit your abstract from there:
